Are the best thing about Spring.
Today my lovely friend Jo, her husband and 3 children piled into the car and came all the way up to Glasgow to visit me. There was cake and tea and pointing at things and parks and The People's Palace and pizza and ice-cream and the Subway and Kelvingrove Galleries and more Subway and the Overground and more tea and cake and then it was time to go home!
March is a mere 3 days old, and it's shaping up to be pretty fantastic (if I can just ignore the photos of a certain emotionless asshole at NSR that keep showing up on FB). Working backwards, today was lovely and such a fantastic way to spend a Sunday. Saturday evening I got to hang out with the nephew and nieceling, have dinner with my sister and have a mini-celebration. Work was busy in a good way, and my manager was ace about my needing to take some days off. This was all because, on Friday, I got an email to say that I'd be working at the Edinburgh International Science Festival as a Science Communicator at the end of the month.
Yes folks, that was one part of my exciting news, and boy is it exciting. This is an enormous and fantastic opportunity for me and I'm still trying to get my head round the fact that I'm actually going to be working for an event with International in the title. Seriously. Mind. Blown.
So, I am off to raise a glass to myself in celebration, ignore FB for a while and enjoy the fact that I have a job I enjoy (and an amazingly tolerant manager) and get to do SCIENCE for a fortnight. Maybe I was a bit premature in changing the title of the blog, hey?
