5.5 km, roughly 3.4 miles. This isn't a huge distance, it would be a pleasant hour or so's walk. A nice stroll along the river. It's a distance I've walked without really thinking about before.
Except today I ran it in 35 minutes on the dot. Ran. It. No stopping, no resting, no whinging. And no throwing up at the end, success! I was oddly nervous beforehand though, which was weird but explicable. I've had a pretty dreadful cold-y virus thing for the last few days, and I had to put my run off till today because I was in no fit state to do anything yesterday! I think I built it up to this huge great wall in my head, instead of looking at it as the leap-able hurdle it was. And it was fun, my iPod was chock-a-block with suitable tunes (Dear Calvin Harris, I love you, that is all.), it wasn't raining and there were loads of other folk out enjoying their own little bubble of exercise. The best bit though? I didn't feel totally burst at the end. I was definitely tired, but I could have gone a little further if I'd had time.
So, I've finished the Zombies, Run! C25k app. I am officially able to run 5k and not keel over from the shock. Can I call myself a runner now?
