It really is Miss Cameron!

I'm employed! I start at Accrington Academy in January, with my own classroom and everything. It's a little lame to be excited about something like that, but after lugging folders and laptops and worksheets between classrooms for a year, being in my classroom before my classes arrive will be the height of giddy excitement.

I'm also now a Lancastrian, I have a lovely little house that I share with another kayaker and I'm really rather happy. I'm settling in, the rest of Lancaster Uni Canoe Club are making me feel super-welcome and I'm getting used to the town. I miss Leeds a lot, but it's nice to have a new start sometimes.

I'm currently a supply teacher, which isn't going too awesomely. The actual supply teaching isn't the problem, but I've been having problems with various agencies (no work, lost CRB forms etc.). I've got work this week and hopefully next week which'll be nice before Christmas, but I miss teaching. I miss being in the classroom and doing what I busted my ass for a year training to do! I'm sure I'll have changed my tune come February half-term, but for now I'm gunning to get back lesson planning!

I've gotten back into kayaking too, not doing so well, but I have a shiny new(ish) Sidewinder cag, so when it does all go wrong I'll stay dry! Went to the Tyne Tour a couple of weeks ago and rather enjoyed it. Paddled on the Saturday using my housemate's Ammo, which was rather nice. Once I get paid I may see if he still wants to sell it, and then I'll have my very own boat! The ceilidh was super-fun, getting to see folk from other unis and generally having a jolly time (and several beers too...) made for a lovely weekend. Also getting a lie-in on Sunday and a serious Grade 5 breakfast at 'Spoons helped big time!

The knitting is still going apace. Almost done my Christmas presents (which I'll post after the day, I don't want to ruin any surprises) and looking forward to making myself something pretty after the holidays. Got me some plans for a slouchy beret and a kidsilk haze cardi for summer. Hurray!

Macedonia and Bulgria were AMAZING! Ollie and I already have some plans to hit more of Eastern Europe next summer, aiming to get to Hungary, Romania and Slovenia over about 3 weeks.
