I seem to be a One Post A Month Girl here...

So, back in Cumbria. It's weird to be home, but my new obsession with knitting seems to be keeping me sane-ish. Been up to Lancaster a few times, and visited Sacha and Raffa and Becca and, erm, Matt.

Progress report:
Househunting - no progress.
Job hunting - no progress.
Having a "plan" - no progress.
Knitting in the round - lots of progress.
Cabling - lots of progress.
Being a useful, functioning, tax-paying human being - I'll get back to you on that one.

Going on holiday to Bulgaria and Macedonia in two days, which is really rather exciting. And condsidering I speak the square root of fuck all Bulgarian or Macedonian, and it's not like Ollie has any skillz with Cyrillic, it's going to be interesting!

Tomislav (who's wedding is the reason we're all heading out to Skopje) has arranged for us to stay with some of his pals, and then head to Lake Ohrid for a day or so. It's looking to be expensive in terms of flights, but the cost of living is super low, so we'll save that way.

I'm still nervous about flying though, and was hoping to be able to take my knitting on the plane to have something to occupy myself with. Sadly knitting needles are classed as "blunt instruments", in the same category as lacrosse sticks and kayak paddles and aren't allowed in the cabin. Though people are allowed pens, which are just as pointy as knitting needles and less likely to break than some lovely bamboo Addis when stabbed in the direction of a smug air-hostess. Bastards. Though thanks to Angel Yarns, I wouldn't be knitting anyway as the aforementioned Addis are still somewhere in the Addis warehouse.

This is a rant I won't have now, as there's nothing I can do till tomorrow when I ring them up and tell them that sending me the wool I want is essentially useless unless I have the SODDING NEEDLES TO KNIT THE WOOL WITH! Humph.

Off to try and knit some bootees for Lissa's wee baby who'll be due fairly soon. I need some more toy patterns as well, as I have a massive bag full of wadding and nothing to stuff it into.

I'm trying to collect pictures of stuff I've knitted, as I'd quite like a bit of a retrospective for myself. I don't know why I haven't, I suppose I'd never thought of myself as terribly good at it (mostly due to the amount that I swear when I knit fiddly things), but I enjoy it, and it'd be nice to see that I've improved the last two years. I mean, I know I have, but I'd like to prove it to all the haters, and such.

Ta ta!

Hello! I heard that a good way to get them through security is to stuff them inside an umbrella, like a wee fold-up one, and then they don't show up on the metal detector, and then if they find them you just say that's the way you transport them so they don't get bent but chances of them finding them are NIL and you knit away all flight! And they don't give a toss about the bamboo ones, i had them on the go on the way here and nobody was bothered.
Suerte! xx
