I am cream-crackered. I had a good day at the training for the festival, though I think I was over-thinking my "bit" and kept getting flustered. I've rehearsed it about 6 times since I got home though, and have worked it down into some manageable bullet points. I got all flustered, but I don't think my nerves and 5.30am start helped much. Man alive, I'm shattered. Did my usual (does it count as usual if you've done it twice?) conking out at Haymarket and waking with a start at Queen St. No confused conductors this time though, which is an improvement on last time.
Definitely going to give it all a final run-through tomorrow, and I'm going down to the session a bit earlier so I can see it all in action and look at timings. Things always take longer when there's small children involved!
The group I'm working with are awesome, and very tolerant of my getting mixed up. My poor team leader, though he was very nice about it all, and really supportive too. It's always harder to do these things in front of adults and peers, I always found it easy to settle into the mannerisms you need when you're actually working with the kids, so hopefully that'll make it easier.
I'm still a bit in awe of the fact that I'm doing the festival at all. It's such a huge, exciting event and it's a massive privilege to be a part of it. I think I'm more worried about letting them down, than anything else.
Just need to get a decent night's sleep and give it a hell of a good shot tomorrow!
Also, I feel I ought to apologise for the lack of photos of late. I have been taking them, I've just failed to upload them to my computer. I'll have a sit down and sort that, and then bombard you all with photos of bobble hats and snow on the Green.
