I am not a food blogger. I like cooking, I like food. I like eating the food. I'm just a bit crap about writing about it. I can manage adjectives like "tasty" and "PLEASE GET IN MY MOUTH" but that's about it.
However, I'd like to share something with you. Something gooey, sweet, chocolatey and quick. Literally, it takes a grand total of about two minutes to make from start to finish. That's right, ladies and gents, Chocolate Mug Cake. Quick, dirty and exactly what I wanted. The recipe is here and you need to try it.
Worryingly, I have enough of the ingredients to make many, many more of these. I'm going to have to behave tonight, but I'm going to have to give it another try tomorrow. The original recipe calls for peanut butter or Nutella, neither of which I had in the kitchen, so I think a swift detour to Sainsbury's on the way home is called for.
In other news, I got feedback from my interview, which was really useful. It turns out I was too prepared! I should have rocked that mortar and pestle like my life depended on it. I'll make sure I remember that for next time, because it seems like there might well be a next time, which is all kinds of fantastic.
In saying that, I'm on the rota post-Christmas, which means I'm being kept on at my new shop. I'm really pleased, not just because it's a job, but because it's a job I love. I know it's not a high-faluting executive type of job, but I'm happy, which is more than a lot of people can say.
After finding out about my staying on, I got to go right ahead and book my first holiday of 2013! I have a week off to explore the city of London with the fabulous Jess. There will be creepy tours of places like this.
Consumption of lots of these.
Maybe some patting of this sort of thing.
And lots of other jolly things. I'm looking forward to it, big time. My last holiday without Ollie was fucking perfect (much wandering of a thoroughly interesting city with a good pal), and I'm expecting nothing less from this. Excited!
